Revelation 1:5–6
Kings and Priests
The dual call on every believer — governance and intercession — and how the two were never meant to be divided.
- 5And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
- 6and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Christ has not made us merely worshipers. He has made us kings and priests — those who govern and those who intercede.
A king without a priest becomes a tyrant. A priest without a king becomes powerless. The two offices were always meant to operate together in the believer.
You are called to rule in the Spirit and to mediate at the altar. Both are required to advance Kingdom culture in the earth.
Application
- 01Identify one sphere where God has called you to govern (your home, your work, your gift).
- 02Identify one altar where God has called you to intercede (a person, a city, a mandate).
- 03Refuse to operate as a king without spending time as a priest.
Prayer
Father, You have made me a king and a priest. Teach me to rule with humility and to intercede with authority. Let my governance be born at the altar, and my altar produce true governance. In Jesus' name, amen.
Reflection Questions
- Q1.Are you operating more as a king or more as a priest?
- Q2.What would change if you led from the altar instead of from ambition?
- Q3.Where has the church separated what God joined together?
